It’s back! Introducing the 2027 Chevy Bolt

October 10, 2025Newsletter Archives

General Motors pulled the Chevrolet Bolt from the market after the 2023 model year, which dismayed fans of the peppy, affordable electric-powered SUV. Like me, for instance. (Full disclosure, I’m the proud owner of a 2018 Bolt, which long predates my tenure at GM.) But this week there was fantastic news for Bolt fans: We’re bringing it back.

The new Bolt will start shipping to customers early next year on a limited run basis. The 2027 model year EV has a tweaked but familiar exterior, but an all-new modernized interior, with on-board navigation, updated display screens, and available Super Cruise1 driver assistance technology, among other upgrades.

The ’27 Bolt has a GM-estimated range of 255 miles on a full charge2; it will be the first Chevy EV equipped with a native NACS charging port. And it sports one of the other most appealing characteristics of the original Bolt – affordability. The 2027 Bolt has a starting MSRP of $29,990 (including $1,395 DFC) for a 2027 Bolt LT3.

Together with the Equinox EV, one of the market’s best-selling EVs, the Bolt solidifies Chevy’s strong position in affordable electric vehicles. Chevrolet expects the two models together to account for most of the brand’s 2026 EV volume.

“The Chevrolet Bolt was the industry’s first affordable mass-market, long-range EV and it commanded one of GM’s most loyal customer bases thanks to its price, versatility and practicality,” said Scott Bell, vice president, Global Chevrolet. “After production ended, we heard our customer’s feedback and their love for this product. So the Bolt is coming back - by popular demand and better than ever - for a limited time. This is a celebration of what Bolt means to our customers and to Chevrolet. It’s your chance to own a popular EV that’s affordable. So, if you’ve been waiting, this is the moment. Don’t miss it.”

Meanwhile, GM News this week published a must-read interview with Sterling Anderson, who joined the company as chief product officer earlier this year from the autonomous trucking company Aurora, which he co-founded. Also, don’t miss the new post from Aamir Ali, head of product management for autonomous vehicles and driver assistance technology, on our path to full autonomy.

And not least, check out the latest GM Theater, which focused on a set of cartoons Chevrolet produced for theatrical release in the 1930s, so you can discover the truth about Cinderella – her coach to the ball was actually a Chevrolet.
