This week, General Motors published its second-quarter and first-half sales results for 2025, and the data is clear: We’ve had a very strong year so far.
In the first half of 2025, GM led the U.S. automotive industry in total and retail sales. Our U.S. sales increased 7% in the second quarter and 12% in the first half of this year. This puts GM well ahead of the estimated 4% total auto industry growth.
Buick had the largest first-half sales increase of any mainstream brand, up 29%. Chevy had its best first-half sales since 2019, up 9%, and GMC had its best-ever start to the year. GM's electric vehicle sales continue to grow faster than the industry. In Q2, Chevy became the best-selling EV brand, and Cadillac is the luxury EV market share leader1.
“The investments we have made in our crossovers, SUVs, and pickups – both gas and electric – along with great execution by our employees, suppliers and dealers, have made GM the engine of growth for the U.S. industry this year,” said Duncan Aldred, GM senior VP and president of North America.
Elsewhere this week, we relaunched the GM YouTube channel with an in-depth look at the 2025 Corvette ZR1. I had the thrill and honor of riding with Corvette lead development engineer Chris Barber as he wheeled this 1,064-horsepower dream machine around the racetrack. It was a joyride I’ll never forget, and I hope you’ll keep checking our YouTube channel for more great videos coming soon.
