General Motors has been inducted into the Indiana Manufacturers Hall of Fame, in recognition of our continued achievements and commitment to customers, partners and team members in the Hoosier State. 

Formed in 1901, the Indiana Manufacturers Association advocates for a business climate that creates, protects and promotes quality manufacturing jobs. The group annually recognizes organizations for their contributions to the state’s economy and their commitment to local communities. GM and other inductees were announced at a luncheon celebrating Indiana’s manufacturers. 

GM Drives Indiana

GM has had operations in Indiana for more than 80 years – we have invested over $2.8 billion in the state just in the last decade.  GM employs nearly 6,000 people in Indiana across seven facilities, while working with more than 400 suppliers throughout the state. Our impact extends beyond our own doors through the creation of thousands of jobs through our Indiana suppliers and vendors.

Indiana is core to GM’s DNA – and it has been central to my own career journey. A proud alum of Indiana Wesleyan University and Purdue University, I joined GM 24 years ago at Bedford Casting Operations. Now, as the leader of GM’s  components sector, three of the 18 facilities I oversee are in Indiana – Bedford Casting Operations, Kokomo Operations and Marion Metal Center.  These facilities are essential to GM’s overall manufacturing strategy, providing essential components used throughout our product line.

In addition to GM sites I oversee, Indiana is home to Fort Wayne Assembly. With more than 4,000 employees, Fort Wayne Assembly manufactures our best-selling trucks – the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500. 

GM’s future in Indiana is bright – and we remain committed to the state’s manufacturing industry and its communities. Earlier this year, we completed an agreement with Samsung SDI to establish a joint venture to manufacture electric vehicle batteries in New Carlisle, in 2027.  

As we break new ground in the industry and the state, our team is honored to be recognized by the Indiana Manufacturers Hall of Fame. The award is a testament to the great work of our team across the state and the thousands who have worked at GM Indiana facilities over the last century. I applaud our team members, who represent our manufacturing expertise and the company’s legacy. And I look forward to what we continue to bring to the future of EVs and manufacturing.
