2025-11-03

As General Motors launches new world-class vehicles and technologies to customers around the world, the company announced it would bring together three international markets under one leader to enable them to further accelerate development in a rapidly changing global environment.

Mike MacPhee is promoted to the new role of president EMEA and ANZ, reporting to GM executive vice president and president GM Global Markets, Rory Harvey, effective November 15.

In this new role, MacPhee will work closely with GM teams in Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Australia and New Zealand to deliver commercial growth strategies.

“Across our brands, we have our best-ever vehicle portfolio, and we are rolling out new connectivity, autonomous and software technology around the world,” said Harvey. “This is a critical moment for our business to ensure we are fully leveraging this opportunity to win more customers, delight them with our driving and ownership experiences and earn their loyalty for the long term.”

Reporting to MacPhee will be:

  • Jack Uppal, President and Managing Director GM AMEO;

  • Jean-Pierre Diernaz, Acting Managing Director GM Europe; and

  • Jess Bala, Managing Director GM Australia and New Zealand.

MacPhee said: “We have an incredible opportunity to get more and more people behind the wheel of a GM vehicle and to earn their trust for life. I’m looking forward to working with our great teams and partners around the world to bring our world-class vehicles and technologies to market.”

MacPhee comes to this new role with a proven track record of driving innovation and performance in sales. In his current role, he has been instrumental in Chevrolet moving from 9th to 2nd in US EV sales, as well as Chevrolet achieving annual market share growth for the last 3 years consecutively. In his prior role as Marketing Director Chevrolet Trucks, he led teams that drove Chevrolet trucks to beat Ford F-Series in overall retail truck sales in 2022.

Staring his GM career in Canada in 2007, MacPhee held a number of field, marketing and sales roles, before leading sales and marketing first for Buick-GMC and then for Chevrolet in the market.

Brad Franz, currently Global Cadillac Marketing Director, will replace MacPhee as director Chevrolet Sales Operations, reporting to Global Chevrolet vice president, Scott Bell. Rich Latek, currently Buick and GMC marketing director, will move to the role of Global Cadillac marketing director.
