GM and EVgo surpass 2,000 public fast charging stalls in the U.S.
2024-12-04
General Motors is committed to making electric vehicles practical for drivers across America. Building a robust network of public fast chargers is key to achieving that goal. GM is thrilled to announce a milestone achievement in its collaboration with industry leader EVgo, surpassing 2,000 co-branded public fast charging stalls, making it one of the nation’s largest providers of public fast charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.
GM and EVgo’s 2,000th stall is part of a new charging station in Murrieta, California. Located off Interstate 215 in Riverside County, this charging station offers five 350kW fast chargers capable of serving up to 10 EVs at once. Drivers can enjoy nearby retail shopping, coffee shops, and dining destinations while they charge.
EVgo and GM have collaborated to build fast charging stalls in more than 390 locations in 45 metropolitan markets across 32 states. The longstanding collaboration focuses on grocery stores, retail complexes, and city centers, giving EV owners easy access to nearby amenities and attractions. The collaboration also aims to serve customers who are unable to charge at home, including renters and those living in multifamily dwellings.
EVgo and GM are well on their way toward completing a total of 2,850 DC fast charging stalls nationwide. This effort will also include 400 public fast charging stalls at flagship destinations across major metropolitan markets from coast to coast, including locations in Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, New York and Texas.
Progress is coming fast. The companies opened their 1,000th public fast charging stall in August 2023 in Woodbridge, Illinois, a Chicago suburb. Since then, EVgo and GM have doubled their shared EV charging footprint. GM and EVgo have collaborated to build charging infrastructure across the U.S., including at highway rest stops along major interstate routes. Coupled with GM’s extensive line of home charging products, these public charging options help make it easy for GM EV drivers to confidently travel almost anywhere in the U.S.
“Our collaboration with EVgo underscores our dedication to providing EV drivers with the best possible experience by expanding reliable fast charging infrastructure across the country,” said Wade Sheffer, Vice President, GM Energy. “We look forward to continuing to offer premium charging experiences for years to come.”
“EVgo’s longstanding collaboration with GM has helped us bring public charging to communities in more than 30 states across the U.S.,” said EVgo President, Dennis Kish.” As we work to deploy our first flagship destinations next year, we are thrilled to celebrate today’s milestone of reaching 2,000 fast charging stalls built through this program.”
