Welcome to GM News

Have I got a story for you.

A few months ago, I left business journalism to join General Motors. While I loved my many years covering technology and the stock market for Barron’s, Forbes and other publications, GM offered me an opportunity I couldn’t resist: To help one of the cornerstone American manufacturing giants tell the story of the future of transportation, powered by electrification, automation, software, and AI.

Arguably, it’s the best technology story around – and one which will touch millions of lives.

I just couldn’t say no.

For one thing, I’m a big believer in GM CEO Mary Barra’s vision for “zero crashes, zero emissions, and zero congestion,” and there will be a lot to discuss on those topics in the months and years ahead. As I wrote on LinkedIn when I started here, there are many amazing untold stories at GM, and I can’t wait to start telling them.

And my colleagues and I are going to be telling those stories right here on our new GM News site, which you can find at news.gm.com. You can go ahead and bookmark it – and sign up for email notifications of new content at the bottom of this page.

The new site combines a few previous GM web content features, including our old Newsroom site and our GM Stories pages. We’re going to take a cleaner, simpler approach to storytelling. Less jargon. More voice.

You’ll find our usual news and announcements here, but with a crisper, easier-to-read style. And we’ll be adding new forms of original storytelling – interviews, profiles, commentaries, and deep dives on tech and innovation. Expect to see some experimentation, with more video, more images, and other new formats.

We’re targeting GM News at a broad audience. Drivers and car shoppers. Employees, retirees and prospective hires. Motorsports fans and gearheads. Journalists and influencers. It’s going to be a great ride. Climb aboard. And buckle up.
