Chevrolet Equinox hits new EV sales milestone

2025-08-04

General Motors hit another monthly record for U.S. electric vehicle sales in July, led by the Chevrolet Equinox EV.

GM sold more than 19,000 EVs in the month, up more than 115% year-over-year. Equinox EV led with more than 8,500 vehicles sold in July. That’s not just the best U.S. sales month ever for Equinox EV – it is the best ever for a non-Tesla EV in the U.S.

Industry-wide EV demand is surging, boosted in part by the upcoming expiration of the U.S. federal consumer tax credit program. EV sales are expected to increase to approximately 8.5% of industry sales in July. Within the context of a changing market, GM's EV portfolio continues to grow and gain share.

The Equinox EV is attracting buyers new to the brand who find appeal in an affordable EV with more than 315 miles of range.1

GM became the industry’s #2 electric vehicle seller in the U.S last year, and continues to grow faster than the industry, with EV sales up more than 100% in the second quarter.

Isidro Bomnin is witnessing the surge firsthand. He’s vice president of operations for Bomnin Automotive, which operates two dealerships in South Florida which are among Chevrolet’s highest selling EV dealers.

“The first thing for Equinox is the look and design. And once they get behind the wheel, they fall in love,” Bomnin says. "We're seeing a lot of conquest buyers from other brands, and younger buyers.”

GM will report third quarter U.S. sales on October 1.

Actual range may vary based on several factors, including ambient temperature, terrain, battery age and condition, loading and how you use and maintain your vehicle.
