I recently had the opportunity to test the new Cadillac OPTIQ alongside chief engineer John Cockburn before it hits the streets early next year. The OPTIQ combines function and fashion, with Cadillac-estimated 300 miles of range1, standard dual motor all-wheel drive, and standard Super Cruise Driver Assistance Technology2 – all wrapped up in a bold design.
The OPTIQ left me in awe - from experiencing my favorite playlist in a whole new way to trusting the remarkable capabilities of Super Cruise. As a bonus, it’s also super fun to drive!
Here are the five reasons I love the OPTIQ:
My jams have never sounded better! During my drive with John, he mentioned, “We've made the 19-speaker AKG3 Studio Audio System standard in what we like to call our ‘gateway Cadillac.’ This way, you can experience sound just as your favorite artist intended” — and he’s right! With the Dolby Atmos sound system, I didn’t want to leave the car. The AKG speakers transformed every song into a live concert, delivering a studio-quality experience I wasn’t expecting.
Sleek, stylish design: The OPTIQ’s design felt like pure luxury. From its striking exterior to the plush, fashion-forward interior, every detail was filled with excellence. I was especially impressed by the unconventional material used throughout the cabin, giving it a chic, high-fashion vibe that made me feel incredibly stylish behind the wheel. With a starting MSRP of $54,0004, OPTIQ is Cadillac’s entry-level EV – offering drivers the perfect blend of sophistication and affordability.
Super Cruise = super relaxing: Even though I work for a car company, I’ve always considered myself more of a "passenger princess" than a driver. But available Super Cruise driver assistance technology changed everything. As I drove the 250+ miles north from Warren, Michigan to the Mackinac Bridge connecting the state’s Upper and Lower Peninsulas, I let the car do a lot of the work (i.e. my hands and feet were free!). The comfy front massage seats certainly didn’t hurt, either. This was easily the most relaxing drive I’ve ever had.
It’s quick – in the best way: The OPTIQ surprised me with its fast acceleration, especially on the highway. With standard dual motor all-wheel drive, it performed even better than my personal vehicle, getting me where I needed to go quickly and smoothly.
33-inch diagonal advanced LED display: The large screen was one of the first things I noticed in the OPTIQ. It reminded me of the Escalade’s display, but in a more compact, streamlined design. Having easy access to all my frequently used apps made for a more enjoyable driving experience.
The Cadillac OPTIQ blew me away with its combination of luxury, innovation, and fun, and I can’t wait to own one someday. If you get the chance, don’t miss out on driving it.
