Cars aren’t just for driving – for music lovers, they offer the ultimate listening space. Artists often use “car checks” to fine-tune their work, ensuring it sounds perfect on the road. Now, General Motors is elevating the music and podcast-listening experience by introducing Dolby Atmos immersive sound, starting with the all-electric Cadillac OPTIQ and VISTIQ, available through Amazon Music.
Dolby Atmos with Amazon Music is the latest built-in offering from GM’s infotainment system.
This collaboration marks the beginning of a broader rollout, with Dolby Atmos as a standard feature in select 2025 and 2026 Cadillac models, and available across Cadillac’s entire 2026 EV lineup.
A concert hall on wheels
GM included the recording, mixing, and artist communities in the development process for adoption of Dolby Atmos, ensuring a level of quality that meets the highest industry standards. Cadillac’s AKG sound system, strategically placed speakers, and advanced engineering combine seamlessly with Dolby Atmos to provide a three-dimensional sound experience.
For the artists who treat their cars as a studio, USB connectivity is now Dolby Atmos-enabled so they can easily bring their latest music to their car.
The system delivers independent, high-fidelity sounds through Harman’s 1-amp architecture, mapping Dolby Atmos tracks to each speaker location, including headrest speakers and, if equipped, height speakers. With the 19-speaker system in the OPTIQ – and the 23-speaker array in the VISTIQ - the result is crisp highs, warm mids, and deep lows, creating an immersive listening experience.
Powered by GM’s software platform, this new offering provides an experience that’s the difference between standard radio and a private concert.
"Amazon Music with Dolby Atmos is the latest built-in app for GM’s infotainment system, bringing multidimensional sound to your drive and going beyond the limits of simply pairing your phone,” said Baris Cetinok, GM senior VP of software and services product management, program management, and design. “This update seamlessly integrates Cadillac’s premium speakers, software, and services to deliver an immersive sound experience that surrounds you with music from all around and above, as if you’re at your own private concert."
“Whether you are listening to music to pass the time on a long commute or sharing a special moment on a family road trip, music has the power to transform mundane moments into something remarkable,” said John Couling, senior VP of entertainment at Dolby Laboratories. “Cadillac’s lineup of Dolby Atmos equipped vehicles is re-imagining the driving experience, ensuring every journey is unforgettable no matter where it takes you.”
