Deterring thieves: Drive Block launches for GM fleet customers

2025-05-08

Fleet managers now have a powerful new tool at their fingertips to help prevent theft and costly disruptions.

Introducing Drive Block, a remote security feature available through OnStar Protect and included in the OnStar One Fleet bundle for 2025 or later model year General Motors vehicles through the GM Envolve fleet business.

If a vehicle is stolen, Drive Block can help stop it in its tracks — disabling drive remotely to prevent theft, aid in recovery, and block unauthorized use. Integrated into OnStar Vehicle Insights, GM Envolve’s fleet management system, customers can remotely disable a vehicle right from the platform.

“Thousands of vehicles are stolen every year and can’t always be recovered,” said Michelle Calloway, director, GM Envolve OnStar. “While our customers have been able to remotely disable vehicles through an advisor, fleet managers have requested direct control over this security feature. Drive Block empowers them to do just that and take immediate action when theft occurs. This innovation reflects our broader commitment to offer a seamless ecosystem where vehicles, software, and services work together to deliver exceptional value and peace of mind for fleet operations."

This feature joins GM’s growing suite of vehicle-enabled fleet tools like OnStar DualCam, which captures in-cabin and front windshield camera views fused with vehicle data to detect risky driving behaviors in real time, deliver instant alerts, and provide video insights for coaching safer driving behavior.

Leveraging the power of its expansive vehicle lineup, GM is advancing connected fleet software and services to help customers operate with greater confidence, control, and efficiency.
