Last week, Chevy announced some major good news for fans of affordable EVs – the Bolt is back! With a starting MSRP1 of $29,990 (including $1,395 DFC) for a 2027 Bolt LT, and a GM-estimated 255 miles of range2, the new Bolt will offer the most range in an EV under $30,000.
The 2027 Bolt has a familiar shape and size, but under the skin, there’s lots of new technology and comfort features to enjoy. In the video below, my colleague Shad Balch breaks down everything to love about this revamped EV icon.
The biggest change comes when it’s time to charge. The 2027 Bolt is the first Chevrolet model with a native NACS charging port, giving drivers more charging options at home or on the go. With a peak charging speed of 150 kW+ (more than 2.5 times faster than the previous Bolt EV), you can charge from 10% to 80% in just 26 minutes with public DC fast charging3. An all-new interior adds style, comfort, and function, and available Super Cruise4 driver assistance technology offers more hands-free miles than ever before.
That’s all well and good, but what is it like to load up the new 2027 Bolt with cargo and hit the road for a beach day? That’s where Shad comes in. He’s ready to test the cargo capacity, the driving comfort, and even the quietness of the cabin on a day of driving in Southern California. Check it out:

The 2027 Bolt will begin shipping to customers early next year and will be a limited run model. We know Bolt enthusiasts everywhere can’t wait to get their hands on the latest version of this legend.
1The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price includes destination freight charge. Tax, title, license, dealer fees and optional equipment not included. Dealer sets final price.
2On a full charge. GM Estimated range based on development testing and/or analytical projection consistent with SAE J1634 revision 2017 – MCT and subject to change prior to production. Actual range may vary based on several factors, including temperature, terrain, battery age, loading, and how you use and maintain your vehicle.
3Actual charge times will vary based on battery starting state of charge, battery condition, output of charger, vehicle settings and battery temperature. See the Owner’s Manuals for your vehicle and charger for additional details & limitations.
4Late availability. Always pay attention while driving and when using Super Cruise. Do not use a hand-held device. Requires active Super Cruise plan or trial. Terms apply. Visit chevysupercruise.com for compatible roads and full details.
