General Motors will spotlight recent progress on electric vehicles and battery technology at this year’s Climate Week NYC, an annual event that kicks off September 21.

GM will be the title sponsor for the Nest Climate Campus at the Javits Center, the single largest event during Climate Week. GM will have an exhibition on the floor featuring the Chevrolet Equinox EV and Silverado EV, along with the Cadillac OPTIQ. The company will be offering test drives of the Cadillac ESCALADE IQ, LYRIQ, and OPTIQ, as well as the Equinox EV.

Also, GM executives will be featured in two main stage presentations at the event.

Kurt Kelty, VP of battery, propulsion, and sustainability, will highlight recent battery advancements at General Motors. Among other things, he will address recently announced plans to commercialize LMR, or “lithium manganese rich,” batteries.

Cassandra Garber, GM’s chief sustainability officer, will give a talk on breaking down barriers to EV adoption, by making it easier to charge and extending vehicle range. GM EV drivers in North America have access to more than 250,000 public Level 2 and fast chargers. Meanwhile, GM recently smashed the world record for EV vehicle range, going 1,059.2 miles on a full charge with a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV Work Truck, which is EPA -estimated for up to 493 miles1.

Kurt Kelty’s talk, “How GM is driving American battery technology forward,” will be delivered at 10:05 a.m. Eastern time on Tuesday. September 23. Cassandra Garber will be speaking at 10:10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24. Garber’s session is entitled, “The Road Ahead: Breaking Barriers to EV Adoption.” Garber will be in conversation with Anna Robertson, cofounder of The Cool Down, a website focused on climate-conscious news and purchasing guides.

GM is now the second-largest EV seller in the U.S. In August, GM reported its highest monthly EV sales ever, with strong demand across the company’s EV portfolio. GM now offers a portfolio of 14 EV models, the broadest selection in the industry. In addition, GM is now the largest EV battery cell manufacturer in the U.S, through our joint venture plants in Ohio and Tennessee.

“General Motors remains committed to a zero-emissions future, with profitable EV production as our north star,” Garber said. “We’re investing in the right battery and EV technologies and innovating for the future, and that’s paying off as more customers choose our EVs, attracted by both cutting-edge design and strong performance. Advancing our EV portfolio is good business and good for society, and we’re proud to share our progress at this event.”
