All electric vehicles currently sold by GM under the Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC brands can charge at compatible North American Charging Standard (NACS) plugs, either with an adapter or a native port. However, GM is in the process of moving all EVs to native NACS charging ports for the 2027 year, meaning an adapter will not be required to charge at NACS ports on all 2027 GM models.

 

The ability to charge at a NACS fast charger can be especially useful for long road trips, as they're becoming more common across the country. With the move to native NACS charging across the board, GM is working to standardize its charging standards. As this shift toward NACS continues, GM offers adapters for any customers and some public chargers now offer both NACS and CCS.

 

GM's new Energy Pass, built into the MyChevrolet, MyCadillac, and MyGMC apps, combines registration and payment for multiple charging networks. Tesla Supercharger, IONNA, Electrify America, and ChargePoint are supported today, with EVgo coming soon. You can forget about all those apps and passwords that slow you down when stopping for a charge. Eventually, Energy Pass will work on some networks automatically after the initial one-time activation, just by pulling up and plugging your car into the charger; payment and activation are taken care of, in some instances without even unlocking your mobile device.
