A modern era for used vehicles: GM’s Certified Pre-Owned program merges with CarBravo

2026-03-03

Hot take: used-car shopping doesn’t have to feel like pulling teeth. It can be convenient, value-driven, and even a little fun. Starting June 2, U.S. Chevrolet, Buick and GMC certified used vehicle sales programs will come together under one modern, easy-to-love platform, CarBravo, that makes it simpler to find the right ride, price, coverage and experience, all in one place.

This is not the launch of a new program, but an evolution of one that has been in market for more than three years. CarBravo will become GM’s sole used vehicle certification program for U.S. Chevrolet, Buick and GMC dealers and allow them to certify and sell GM and non-GM makes and models. Cadillac will continue operating its own independent Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) program, and GM Canada will maintain a traditional CPO structure tailored to that market.

Evolving with a Changing Market

OEM-backed CPO programs were originally built in the 1990s and centered around late-model off-lease vehicles. Today, U.S. vehicles on the road average 12.8 years in age and in 2026, consumers are forecasted to purchase about 38 million used vehicles – 20 million through retail channels1 — compared to 15.8 million new vehicles.

Shoppers now expect the used vehicle experience to match the rest of their digital lives: always-on, transparent and convenient. They want more choices across more price points, plus the confidence that comes from buying a vehicle that’s been thoroughly vetted and backed by a brand they trust.

CarBravo is GM’s answer. It gives dealers the confidence to stand behind a greater catalog of vehicles on their used lot and provides customers the freedom to choose how they want to shop — online, in-store or a mix of both – all with access to some of the best warranty coverage in the used car industry.

Customers can complete most steps online, then tap into in-person expertise at a nearby participating dealer for test drives, trade-ins or delivery. It’s a true omnichannel experience.

Standing Apart from Other Used Car Platforms

Like other online retailers, CarBravo offers a broad selection of vehicles and an easy digital shopping experience. Where it breaks away from the pack is in what powers that experience. CarBravo is backed by GM and its expansive dealer network.

Every CarBravo certified vehicle, regardless of brand, goes through a comprehensive inspection and reconditioning process. Purchases also include roadside assistance and access to GM’s nationwide service network of more than 4,000 dealers.

  • The Bravo Tier covers vehicles up to 10 years old with fewer than 100,000 miles and includes a 12‑month/12,000‑mile bumper‑to‑bumper limited warranty2 that begins after any remaining OEM warranty expires.

  • The Budget Tier is designed for value-focused shoppers, covering vehicles 10–15 years old with no more than 150,000 miles and including a 30‑day/1,000‑mile powertrain limited warranty2. It extends GM-backed confidence to older, higher-mileage vehicles that are often sold “as-is” elsewhere.

Customers aren’t relying on a single lot or distant call center — they have thousands of service bays, factory-trained technicians and a dedicated customer support team behind them. That combination of strong coverage, deep service support and in-person care is built to deliver more peace of mind than online-only and non-automaker platforms can provide.

Proven Results and a Growing Footprint

Since launch, CarBravo dealers have sold more than 200,000 vehicles, with strong year-over-year growth. In January of this year, CarBravo dealers sold 2.3 times the certified volume of Chevrolet, Buick and GMC dealers using traditional CPO.

CarBravo is also attracting new customers: more than 70% of buyers say they had never purchased from their selling dealer before, and 48% had never bought from any GM dealer. Through November 2025, CarBravo-generated leads resulted in more than 6,200 new vehicle sales for Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac — that’s over 550 new-vehicle sales per month on average.

More than 750 dealers across all 50 states are already enrolled in CarBravo. For customers, it means more value, choice, ease and confidence in one place. For dealers, it means a single, strong certified used‑vehicle engine bringing new-to-GM shoppers into their store.
