Chevrolet has been making icons for more than a century. Classic Chevys don’t just loom large in pop culture – they have a direct influence on the high-tech, high-style vehicles that wear the bow-tie badge today.
Take the all-new 2025 Blazer EV SS. Not only is it the first all-electric vehicle to earn Chevy’s legendary Super Sport badge – it's also the quickest-accelerating SS ever, sprinting from zero to 60 mph in in just 3.4 seconds with Wide Open Watts(1) (WOW) mode. No wonder it was chosen as the official pace car for the 67th running of NASCAR's DAYTONA 500.
On GM News this week, we took a look at the history of the Chevy SS badge, which dates back to the 1961 Impala Super Sport and encompasses high-performance vehicles across seven decades. Super Sport isn’t just about muscle cars – the lineage includes sport-compact cars, sedans, station wagons, pickup trucks, and family SUVs. The Blazer EV SS packs 615 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque in WOW mode, making it the most powerful EV in its class, and a worthy member of the Super Sport family.
Speaking of iconic Chevrolets, this week saw the debut of NBA star Devin Booker’s latest Nike sneaker line, inspired by his collection of classic Chevy Blazers. The Phoenix Suns shooting guard and Olympic gold medalist has a collection of a dozen classic General Motors vehicles, a tribute to his Michigan upbringing. Booker’s new line with Nike includes three sneaker designs, each with colorways inspired by one of his classic Chevy K5 Blazers, plus apparel that takes inspiration from legendary vintage Chevy advertisements. Check out the full collection here at GM News.
Inspired by the past, innovating for the future. That’s how you become an icon.
