Flint Assembly in Michigan is GM’s longest-running assembly site in North America. It just celebrated a milestone: its 16 millionth vehicle. A tribute to the hard work of generations of Flint employees, the 16 millionth vehicle to roll off the line was a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Crew Cab LTZ. Under the hood of the truck was a milestone engine, the 3.5 millionth Duramax diesel built at DMAX.
Elsewhere at GM, there was more cause for celebration: Parents.com named a number of GM vehicles to its Best Cars for Families list and awarded the GM brand with Best Standard Assist and Safety features. We spoke with the engineers who helped earned us this honor. For them, all parents, making vehicles for families is personal.
We also highlighted more employee stories. Rachel Dale, a modern-day Rosie the Riveter, is a skilled trades apprentice at GM’s Spring Hill Manufacturing complex in Tennessee, and her story is one of triumph over adversity. And to wrap things up, we feature GM’s Off-Road Driving Team, a group of employees who spend their free time out in the mud and sand with their trucks. Recently, the ORDT took a number of ZR2 models out to a rally in Northern Michigan to provide support for competitors, proving that a rally car’s best friend is a capable truck, with a capable driver behind the wheel.
