Numerology explores the mystical relationship between numbers, using them to explain the present and divine the future. While I don’t know much about the subject, I’d love to know what a numerologist would think about some historic numbers posted to GM News this week. Here are a few:
Six Billion! GM's U.S. manufacturing climbed to more than $6 billion in just the past year. That staggering number follows the announcement that $830 million will strengthen three key propulsion sites across the company’s U.S. manufacturing footprint. GM will quickly implement those funds to launch its next generation of full-size trucks and SUVs.
One billion! Our customers have driven more than one billion hands-free miles with Super Cruise. For some context, a million miles is roughly 40 times around the earth’s equator. Drive that distance a thousand times, and you’ll understand the magnitude of this milestone for GM’s hands-free driving technology.
One! It’s a much smaller number than the last two, but no less exciting: one special Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X will pace the 110th Indianapolis 500 on May 24th. This celebratory Corvette comes draped in an American-flag livery, continuing the Corvette’s legacy as the pace car of note for The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.
These stories prove there’s real power to numbers, both big and small. Whether or not there’s a divine relationship between all these figures, I couldn’t tell you. But they do have me excited for what’s to come.
Here's to counting on the future,
