Some weeks you don’t have to think too much about this Newsletter; the throughlines practically write themselves.

The big news up front: the next-generation 2027 Chevrolet Silverado debuted this week. It’s absolutely monumental news for GM, worthy of all the hyperbole you can muster. Highlights include powerful next-gen 5.7L and 6.6L V8s, advancing the Chevy Small Block’s lineage of capability, durability and performance.

Much of that Small Block story was written by trucks like this one, a million-mile, 2007 Chevrolet Silverado that owner Jim Muncy drove to the CMA Fest to celebrate authentic Chevy stories like his. Muncy still drives his truck about 1,000 miles per week – he calls it his “mobile office.” As a crucial part of his job, he’s diligent about proper maintenance and upkeep on his truck. Yes, that’s the original V8 under the hood.

Muncy’s Silverado story starts like many others – with Americans building things of dependable quality, then using them hard, as intended. It has us thinking a lot about what built our country as America approaches its 250th anniversary. A letter from Mike Trevorrow, GM’s senior vice president of global manufacturing, addresses just that.

In the letter, Trevorrow notes that our ability to invent and build at scale has kept American manufacturers like GM competitive for the last 250 years. With advanced AI and virtual tooling already in place, that innovation will continue to keep us competitive for the next 250.

Here’s to another 250 years of innovation,
