Love my Chevy Bolt

From the moment it debuted in model-year 2017, the Chevrolet Bolt changed the game. It was the first long-range, mass-produced EV available to customers at a truly affordable price. Drivers fell in love with the Bolt – including lots of folks within General Motors.

That love and enthusiasm played a big part in GM’s decision to bring back the Chevy Bolt for model-year 2027. As we speed toward the unveiling of the new-and-improved Bolt later this year, GM News is proud to bring you stories about the passionate people making it happen.

"Love My Chevy Bolt” is a series of profiles showcasing the talented, motivated people in GM helping to bring back this 21st-century all-electric icon. This week, we kicked things off with Chris Boman, a product marketing manager at Chevrolet who loves taking his 2023 Bolt on road trips. He reminisced about the immense pride felt within Chevy during the launch of the 2017 Bolt.

“At that time, Bolt was the only electric vehicle produced by GM,” he told GM News. “We felt like the pioneers of this new technology.”

We also chatted with Jeff Higgins, Bolt owner and trim launch coordinator at GM’s Fairfax Assembly Plant. Higgins helps prepare the plant to produce new GM vehicle models, so when it was announced that the 2027 Bolt would be assembled at Fairfax, he went out and bought a Bolt of his own.

“I love the quick acceleration and handling,” Higgins told GM News. “It’s like driving a souped-up go-kart.” As Fairfax gears up to produce the new Bolt, Higgins has been showing off his EV to his colleagues. “I let them come see it, test drive it, or ride around with me,” he said. “I try to share with them how well it performs, and how convenient it is. I’m very excited to see these new Bolts out on the road.”

Elsewhere on GM News this week, we featured the latest installment of Battery 101, explaining the different battery cell form factors – cylindrical, prismatic, and pouch. And to recognize Child Passenger Safety Week, GM’s vice president of global product safety Regina Carto talked about the latest resources to help parents and caregivers make sure their child car seats are correctly installed.

From Bolts to batteries to buckled-up kids, at General Motors, we put passion and enthusiasm into everything we build.
