December is always a great time for going to the movies. It’s cold, it’s wet, the kids are going buggy. How about a nice flick about cars?
If you’re short on time, check out Chevrolet’s fourth annual Holiday Card to America. This year’s short film explores the way that family inspires us — and it all unfolds from the cab of a classic Chevy pickup. It’s a tear-jerker. Actually, why not make it a film festival? You can find the whole set of Chevy holiday ads online: This year, last year, 2022, and 2021. You’ll want to get some tissues — they are weepies, one and all.
Documentaries more your speed? “Heartbeat of Arlington” tells the rich 70-year-long story of the GM assembly plant in Arlington, Texas, just outside of Dallas, and the home of the Dallas Cowboys. (There’s a reasonable chance that the Cowboys would be in some other town were it not for the GM plant.) Produced by the city of Arlington, the film shows the huge impact that Arlington Assembly has had on the local community and its citizens.
Grab some popcorn, and settle in. You can watch Wicked some other time.
