Some numbers are so vast, they’re hard to comprehend. For example, the number of possible moves in a chess game is more than the number of atoms in our universe. Crazy, right?
So how do you ground the story of the roughly $60 billion GM has already invested in the U.S. within the last five years? You do something tangible, keep the assembly lines humming, and bring the Corvette’s next-gen Small Block back to its birthplace: Flint, Michigan.
As the Small Block enters its sixth generation, Senior Writer Chris Perkins takes us on a tour of the engine’s long journey, and the more-than 100-year history of engine manufacturing in Flint. The Flint announcement underscores GM’s continued investment in our economy with another mindboggling number: more than 100 million Small Blocks have already been built in America, with many, many more to come.
In other news, Distracted Driving Awareness Month has arrived, spurred on by some rather alarming numbers: the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recorded thousands of fatalities and hundreds of thousands of injuries resulting from crashes involving distracted drivers in 2024, with a hefty increase in the incidence of crashes when drivers are on their phones.
To combat distraction, GM offers many voice and hands-free features to center your focus on the road, plus some helpful tips to avoid the temptation of distraction behind the wheel.
It’s a reminder that, when we’re driving, there’s only so much room for distracted driving: exactly zero. Now that’s an easy number to comprehend.
Drive with intention,
